Beyond the pattern, rope can be a powerful tool to reshape the body to create sensations, aesthetics, and empowerment. It is a constant dialogue to find out about our desires, how we see ourselves, how we want to be shaped and chiselled.

Framing Shapes

Wraps, weavings, knots can be used to create your own designs with the rope. These shapes can bring emphasis on the part of the body that one wants to expose. Rope shapes that will channel our desire. This can take the form of elegant feminine lines or a more masculine warrior look.

Shaping the Chest

Using the pressure of rope to move the skin can be both an experiment to seek a specific aesthetic and to create sensation in the process. The rope can be used to push, lift or twist the skin in different directions.

Chest Binder

One specific application of chest rope is creating a chest binder, a structure that will shape chest tissue to be more flat, generally to increase a masculinity aesthetic. In this particular tie, we create an underlying structure with a vertical steam, then we can use that stem as the anchor of the horizontal and diagonal wraps that we will use to press on the skin. It is important to move the skin up as we shape it so that the pressure is perpendicular to the tissue and the rib cage to minimize uncomfortable folds and twists in the skin. Look at resources for chest binding safety for more information on long term usage.

A Study of the Chest

Each body shape is unique, each person’s desire is unique, and each day we’re a little bit different. Repetition will allow us to try different things and explore what sensation we enjoy, what aesthetic pleases us. It is important to set the boundaries of what we wish to explore together and adapt as needed.

  • Focus on changing the shape of the chest, compressing the top chest, or waist, moving the skin and tissues in different ways.
