Rope can be used to expose our intimacy so it can be observed and enjoyed. Many positions can be explored, each with its different feelings and challenges. Many of these positions can be used for sex, but that remains a choice. Make sure to discuss these poses before exploring them as they will make people feel quite vulnerable.

The goal of this week is to try a variety of positions exposing the body and explore how they make you feel.

Day 155: Crab Tie – The crab tie is a classic to keep the legs open. You can stard with something minimalistic by binding the wrists to the ankles on each sides. A more restrictive version is to bind the forearms and the calf parallel together. There are many variations with different level of complexity, restriction, exposition such as using fog tie structures. Try different arm/leg placements to see what feels best (ex: arms inside vs outside). Experiment if you prefer cinches or not between the arms and the legs. You can explore different position with this tie, sitting, on the back, facing down, side, etc.

Day 156: Open Knees – Alt M-shape, torii shibari 鳥居縛り (traditional Japanese gate at Shinto temple). Create a tie that will keep the knees open. A great way to do that is by tying knees together with the rope going in the back in between. You can also use a chest harness and attach it to each side. The variation with a the knee connected via the back in a straight line is often refered to as moon tie.

Day 157: Tuck Position – Alt. Tanuki shibari (Racoon tie), Kakae Shibari Ryoukakae 抱縛り、両抱 (embrace tie with both arms) – Tie the wrists behind the knees to keep the leg up and the butt exposed. Try moving to different positions (on the back, facedown, side) to see how this influences the feeling of restriction and vulnerability.

Day 158: Beast Tie – Alt. kemono shibari 獣縛り (beast tie), forward-facing hogtie, all four together. Bring up both wrists and both ankles all tie together in this classic kidnapping pose. Try different movements on the ground to experiment how it influences the feeling of restriction and exposition.

Day 159: Legs to Chest – Bring the legs to the chest. You can try an easier tie by lifting the knees, or tie the feet up with the knees open to bend the hips and expose the lower body. This can be done simply by tying the limbs to the chest, or using structures on the legs such crossed-leg ties or butterfly; and/or using a chest structure as an anchor point. This can also be a variation of the shrimp tie (ebi), it is recommended to keep it a bit looser than the restrictive variation for easier body manipulations and more sustainability in the tie.

Day 160: Side Opening – Create an asymmetric exposure by opening one side first. Many options such as using a half basket (two column tie between leg and waist), or bringing one leg to a chest structure. Explore what you can do to create exposure with different ties on each legs.

Day 161: Butt Up – Alt. momo shibari 桃縛り – Create a tie that keeps the butt up. Tie the wrists between the ankles bending forward and use the rope to tie the waist in this position. This can also be achieve with other ties such as shrimp, crab, moon etc. and manipulating the body into a butt-up position.

Bonus: Hogtie Review– Hog ties can also make for interesting exposing ties by pulling the legs to each side. Let’s go back to Week 6 and get a fresh look at it.
Bonus: Using Objects – You can also use furniture and other props to create exposing ties. Review or skip ahead to these chapters for more
